AI search optimization that makes your brand easier to find, trust and cite
Buyers now ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity who to hire or buy from. We make your business clear to those systems and track whether you appear, using a fixed prompt set rather than guesswork.
Generative engine optimization (GEO) improves the chance that AI search tools understand, trust and mention your business. It rests on crawl access for bots such as OAI-SearchBot and Googlebot, consistent entity information, answer-first content with original evidence, and reputation on third-party sites. No agency can guarantee citations, so AdCrowd measures them monthly.
What is GEO and how is it different from SEO?
GEO, sometimes called AEO, is the practice of making a business easy for AI search tools to find, understand and quote. It overlaps heavily with SEO: a site that cannot be crawled or does not answer questions clearly will fail in both. The difference is the unit of competition. In classic search you compete for a ranked link. In AI answers you compete to be named or cited inside a generated response.
| Classic SEO | GEO / AEO | |
|---|---|---|
| Goal | Ranked page and click | Mention or citation inside an AI answer |
| Key inputs | Relevance, authority, technical health | Crawl access, entity clarity, quotable answers, third-party mentions |
| Measurement | Rankings, clicks, revenue | Share of prompts where you appear, sources cited, competitors named |
| Predictability | Position is observable | Answers vary by prompt, user and time |
Can AI search bots crawl your site?
Start here. If a bot is blocked by robots rules, a CDN or a firewall, the page cannot be used. OpenAI states that allowing OAI-SearchBot is a requirement for appearing in ChatGPT search results, and that placement is not guaranteed. Google AI features draw on pages that Googlebot can index. We test access directly. On 19 October 2026 we requested adcrowd.pk using the user-agents of OAI-SearchBot, GPTBot, PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot and Googlebot, and each received a normal 200 response.
- Review robots.txt for bot-specific blocks.
- Check CDN and firewall rules that block unknown user-agents.
- Confirm key content is in the rendered HTML.
- Verify canonical URLs, sitemap coverage and indexation.
How do you make your business clear to AI systems?
AI systems build an understanding of who you are from your site and from other sources. Contradictions weaken it. We make these consistent:
- Business name, address, phone and description across the site, Google Business Profile and directories.
- Organization or LocalBusiness schema with correct URL, logo, contact details and official profile links in sameAs.
- A clear one-paragraph description of what you do and for whom, repeated in the same words where it matters.
- Named people with real roles on the About page and in author bylines.
- Service and product pages that define each offering in everyday words.
What does answer-first content look like?
AI tools quote passages, so each section should open with a direct answer that is correct on its own. A reader or a model that sees only the heading and the first paragraph should get a usable answer. Then comes the detail: mechanism, steps, comparison, cost and limits.
Compare two openings for "How long does SEO take?". Weak: "There are many factors to consider." Strong: "Technical fixes can change crawling within weeks, but competitive rankings usually take months. Timing depends on the starting point, competition and how much work the site needs." The second can be quoted. Pages that also state limitations and name sources tend to be more trustworthy to read and to cite.
Why does original evidence matter for citations?
Generic advice is everywhere. A page with method, dates, sources and real numbers gives an AI tool something specific to quote. Our Jenpharm case study states the metrics, the source (GA4 or Search Console), the comparison period, and what did not improve.
| Jenpharm metric | Result | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Organic-attributed purchase revenue | +125% YoY YTD (3.48x, latest 90 days vs first active 90 days) | GA4 |
| Organic purchasers | +140% YoY YTD (6.31x) | GA4 |
| Organic first-time purchasers | +245% YoY YTD (5.01x) | GA4 |
| Average position, commercial queries | 26.5 to 5.3 | Search Console |
| Search clicks | About +24% YoY (280K to 347K) | Search Console |
| Impressions | About +12% YoY (5.6M to 6.29M) | Search Console |
| Share of tracked purchase revenue | More than half attributed to organic | GA4 |
We help clients publish this type of evidence: documented case studies, anonymized benchmarks from real campaign data and expert commentary under a named author.
Do third-party mentions affect AI answers?
Often, yes. AI answers for "best agency" or "best store" queries tend to draw from listicles, directories and review platforms. We map which sources your category's answers use, then work on a proper presence there: complete profiles, client reviews and earned editorial mentions. We never buy reviews or fake testimonials.
How do you measure AI search visibility?
We build a fixed set of 20 to 30 prompts that a real buyer would ask, then run them monthly in ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. Each run records whether you are mentioned, how you are described, which competitors appear and which sources are cited.
| Prompt type | Example |
|---|---|
| Category | Best SEO agency for e-commerce in Pakistan |
| Problem | Why is my online store not ranking on Google? |
| Comparison | AdCrowd vs other Lahore SEO agencies |
| Service | Who offers technical SEO audits in Pakistan? |
One appearance or absence proves little, because answers vary. Monthly repeats show the trend.
What do we not claim?
- We do not guarantee citations or recommendations.
- We do not claim schema or an llms.txt file will make AI recommend you. They are optional aids, not levers.
- We do not use hidden text, fake reviews or prompt-injection tricks.
What does GEO cost?
Scope depends on site size, number of markets and competitors.
Questions we get asked
Can you guarantee ChatGPT will recommend us?
No. AI answers vary by prompt and context. We improve the inputs and measure the outcome.
Do we need an llms.txt file?
It is optional, and there is no proof it influences citations. Crawl access, content quality and reputation come first.
Does Google AI Overviews need special markup?
Google states that standard SEO fundamentals apply and that pages must be indexed and eligible for snippets. There is no special markup requirement.
Is GEO different from SEO?
They overlap. Strong technical SEO and credible content help both. GEO adds entity clarity, answer formatting and third-party mentions.
How long does it take to appear in AI answers?
It varies. Crawl and indexing changes can show quickly, while reputation and citations build over months.
Which AI tools do you track?
ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity in the standard program.
Do you also do traditional SEO?
Yes. It is our core service, and GEO builds on it.
What does it cost?
We scope pricing to your site and goals, so get in touch for a quote.
Curious what AI tools say about you?
Name your brand and three competitors. We will run the prompts and show you who gets mentioned.
